What to do With Nolan ?
|
Due to a number of reasons I have not been able to get to many games this season
Southampton and yesterday's game v Swansea.
One topic of conversation around me in the BM lower was how "useless" Nolan was.
Does anyone on this forum see a value in having him in the starting 11 ?
I thought he was blowing out of his arse after about 15 mins and he contributed zero throughout the match
That's my opinion though, I'm sure there are many that see it differently.

Has played very well these last two games despite dwindling fitness and zero pace. He is an impact sub for me now. But a very good one to have.

BFS should make him an impact sub and occasionally a starter in tough away games when we need a talker in the side. He is no longer young and mobile enough to be a regular starter. He should also start to involve him on the coaching side as I think Nolan has some of the attributes needed to become a decent manager or coach. He will be the new BFS or BFK as he will be known by then.

People really do see what they want to sometimes. Or not see, in this respect.

Kevin Nolan love him or loath him has been on the whole a very good signing. I can't understand some of the stick the bloke gets on here.
He is now though no longer a regular name on the team sheet. As a team we have changed to a style of football that doesn't get the best out of his style of play and as a result his game time will become less as he comes to the end of his contract. A superb captain and leader of men, one of the best captains we've had in recent years.
Funnily enough with what I saw yesterday it is Noble who should be worried about getting back in the team, not Nolan.

If the first choice 11 are fit he misses out. In my opinion is battling with noble and amalfitano for the 4th midfielder spot. Valencia battling Carroll for the 2nd striker. Other than that our team is pretty settled.

I agree with One Mac ~ He's a decent enough squad player & played well for us when he's been called to in the last few games
He's never going to be as technically gifted as Song, nor have the energy of Kayoute but he does know how to win us games when the chips are down

Hope this doesn't get buried but according the the DM, Nolan covered the most ground yesterday!

I agree with a lot of that rodfarts, apart from the bit about them not being good enough

This just proves the claret & blue specs are out in full force.
Nolan had a similar game to Noble yesterday, he done nothing special covered a lot of ground kept it simple but on the whole he offered very little.
Noble plays the same week in week out and gets applauded for it.
Similar players that offer limited ability but one is from custom house one isn't. Hence the championing of the former and the dog shit abuse of the latter.
They both ain't fucking good enough.

going to be one of many who says
SORRY RODFARTS. I agree about Noble.
Kayoute and Song.
he was fucking right. we back players that play their hearts out without considering their quality.
i still think ur a cunt and ur boxing views will be proved wrong, i hope ur man enough to apologise when that day happens plus ur Noble comments bordered on bullying but I cant lie, Noble isnt a first pick IMO

Nolan or Noble should not get back in that midfield.
Far to many better players in the middle of the park.

Norf, Poyet is actually back from his loan now and is an option we might get to see feature a bit over the busy Christmas schedule.
I'd say Nolan plays a lot better in the holding midfielders role than behind the strikers, but in Noble, Song, Kouyate and Poyet we have quite a few options there.
So I reckon Nolan's starts will soon be limited again. All it should take is one underwhelming performance from him. That's ho things are and should be at West Ham, competition for places.

Although I think he's shit you can't blame the manager for starting him Sunday as he probably had his best ever game for us on Tuesday.......but if you go by that logic he was our worst player yesterday and has been utter garbage in every other game he's played this season so if the manager really does want to succeed he needs to be bombed and if poyet wasn't on loan I wouldn't even have him on the bench. In the past you could argue if we need a goal he'd be worth having on the bench but you've got Zarate sakho/Valencia even vaz te who'd id say all have more goals in them than nolan. He's not my type of player but I can see the value in goal scoring even if he does fuck all else........nolans big problem now is he doesn't score much.....my memory isn't what it used to be but I can only remember him scoring in three games in this calendar year which is pathetic for someone who does fuck all else other than score

We went on a good run without Nolan and Carroll, for the first time in many years we have options. I like it, that we have options. There are a lot of games coming up and to have experience and talent will see us through the Xmas period.
I haven't been this excited about West Hams prospects for as long as I can remember.
